This oak framed new-build house is based on a barn style and provides a large open plan living space, showing off the oak structure.

Bright and Airy Feel

The single storey kitchen wing highlights the oak frame and the vaulted ceiling creates an open, bright and airy feel.

A feeling of fluidity

The end gable is directly glazed and incorporates a large set of bifold doors giving an unobstructed view of the garden and providing a feeling of fluidity between the inside and outside.

Oak craftsmanship

All elements of the oak frame have been carefully considered to combine practical benefits and be aesthetically pleasing. The incorporation of blade braces in the bedrooms both maximises space and highlights the quality of the oak craftsmanship.

We collaborated on this project with Oakwrights – a national oak frame house designer based in Hereford.

Unlike typical oak frame projects we’ve worked on, Oakwrights not only erected the frame, but also installed the insulated shell for the building using their own
encapsulation panel system. Once Oakwrights had completed their works the roof and walls were left temporarily weather proof for us to tile and clad. We then
took the project to completion, overseeing all the remaining aspects of the construction process.
